Ok, I'm an Aspie and do not know what to do for a job/career. I've always liked computers and had fun using them, building them, figuring them out, etc. I was late going to school, but I graduated with a BS in computer science. I got an entry level IT job and I hate it. IT is definitely not for me. It's so boring that I just can't stand it. Not to mention, I don't have the means to learn new things. I need hands on, context time to learn something. Nearly everything I know about computers I learned while trying to solve a problem. I've tried learning from books, but the info just doesn't stick. Because of this, I don't see how I can advance in the field even if I did like it.

The problem is, that I have no clue what I want to do. I look at job ads and just get frustrated. The few jobs that look like something I'd be interested in require qualifications I'm no where near possessing. With the amount of student loans I have to pay back as is, going back to school is absolutely out of the question. I'm sort of stuck between a rock and a really hard rock and can't seem to find a way out.

Try getting a job at a small computer repair shop. Right now with the economy struggling, people are more likely to fix than replace.

And thats a hands on type job that doesn't always require certs. Just knowing what you are doing is usually enough.

I know all this because thats the job I have. Being a chick doesn't help me any, but I know my way around a comp like none other.

A lot of places ask for degrees because they figure school is the only place to learn this stuff. They're wrong. My dh frequently complains that folks with degrees don't know which way to turn a screw driver. If you have the knowledge to do the job, but not the degree, go ahead and send in your resume. In your resume or cover letter, detail exactly what you know that will fit their needs. Dh is vice president of IT without even an associates degree making 80K a year.

I don't know if this would work for you, but he got a job as a C programmer with no schooling in the language because he took a couple of weeks with a book and a project in mind. He convinced the interviewers he knew what he was doing and was soon out coding everyone else. And yeah, he is most likely an undiagnosed aspie.

Try running your own computer repair shop. This would likely work better in a rural or semi-rural area where people still have PCs but don't have qualified repairmen.
