Ok you give 8 hours of your life a day in return for money. Equilveant Exchange, makes sense. ut it seems like employers are increasing their take over of those othrt 16 hours. Now they are getting on you if you smoke outside work hours, even if your family smokes, They are now getting into your private life, if you do anything on your time they dont like, you are out of there. They seem insistant that they can encroach on your time when ever they want, but forbid the reverse ever happens. I have een out on weekends to return to work, with my boss wondering where was all all weekend? He tried to call me. What, So now my time off is really storage time..for nme to wait by the phone to be on cal in case he needs me? ANd why do I have to explain what I do on my week end?

Its my time, ill use it as I see fit.

As long as an employee remains generic, he or she will be easily replaced on the slightest whim.

The trick is to become indispensible, but not so much that you can not be promoted.

As for personal life; posting your amateur sex videos on-line might reflect badly upon you, especially if they feature you and the boss's daughter.

If you and he both believe you NEED every penny he gives you, then you're his slave.
Otherwise you can get a new job and then fire your old boss.

Only if you are contracturally obligated to do so.

Many law-enforcement, public safety, and medical personel must do so, too.

I once had a boss who expected me do all kinds of things that were good for her, but were detrimental to me. I lost a lot of weight because I was too stressed out to eat, couldn't sleep, & was a nervous wreck (more than normal). I was also expected to work long hours & to do her job without any assistance from her & she took credit for my accomplishments. It got so bad that she told me that I needed to inform her of my plans for my day off before I could make the plans! The last straw was when she told me that making those plans on my day off without informing her first was selfish! 8O Needless to say, I no longer work for that organization. In fact, that was my very last moment/day at that company. I actually told her to F*** off & walked out. I have never regretted it!

I'm not saying that others should follow my example. However, being a slave is illegal in the US.

At my last job I ended up only working once or twice a month. This is because they put two people on who replaced me before I had left.

But even then my boss was emailing and phoning me at home about a small amount of unfinished filing!!
