I applied for several year round AmeriCorps (a US based program that the domestic version of the Peace Corps) volunteer programs. I did got a reply from one of the directors asking me if August is ok for me to start and I said yes. I will talk to the director more about the program soon. In case anyone is wondering, it is a community/youth development program.

I figure that since I have a hard time finding a job a year after college graduation, that I should give AmeriCorps a chance. It may not pay much, but it is better than nothing and it sure beats working at a fast food joint.

Thats a very good idea. Unless you've got 15 outstanding achiever awards in school its going to be tuff to find employment in these times. It'll be a huge boost on the resume at least ;)
