I don't know if you attract them, you're just guaranteed to meet a few very strange people now and again at work. I worked with a girl who kept offering to sell me cocaine once. Just smile and nod and have a laugh about it once you're home.

I had a co-worker once who was in some kind of trouble with the bosses (this was a government/state institution).
He would ask someone to score coke for him (not a dealer, just as a personal favour) then get them in trouble, to get himself off the hook.

If your instincts tell you theres something not right about this guy, dont get too close to him, just keep it civil.
