When should I search for a job & how many do I apply for
I plan on getting my first job in the summer, and I'm not sure when I should start applying. I want to either work at a Chapters (not Coles...they're too small) or this grocery store that my grandparents used to own and I know the people who own it (thought I haven't talked with them in a couple years) now. I'm hoping that they could give me a job in the back - that would be best for me). The Chapters is a job I would be so happy to be in (as long as I'm not a cashier *shutters*), but I think I have more chance at the grocery
How many can I apply for at one time? I want to see if I can figure out any other places that I might have a chance of landing it (there's this sweet little baking/grocer place across the street from my house that would be convenient), but I don't know if applying for more then one job at a time is acceptable. Or if there's a limit.
Start at one end of a plaza or street and dispense applications and/or resumes until there is no where left to apply.
Basically, if you apply to 10 places and four want to hire you, then you have four choices and can be somewhat picky.
If you apply to 5 places and two want to hire you, then you can't be as picky as when you applied for 10.
You absolutely can apply for more than one job at a time. If you get one job, and another offer comes in, you can just say "no thank you, I already got a job now." Or if you'd like the other job better, just quit the first job and go to the other one. Just make sure you REALLY want that other job more though, because once you quit a job, it's possible they won't want you back again if you change your mind.
