Well tomorrow is my last day. They keep cutting my hours and next week I am working ONLY ONE DAY. It is the day I prefer NOT TO WORK...Sunday. I am going to work my last shift tomorrow and then leave my hat, and my shirts on the desk when I leave. I am done with this place and not getting any money from nonexistant deliveries. I have an interview with Mattress Warehouse on Tuesday, the guy who works there is a regular and thinks I would be good for the job.

Hold on a minute. Don't leave your present job until you are sure you have the other job. Leave on good terms so you use them as a good reference.

Quitting your job is a pretty bad idea in these times...

Well it was 6 years ago now so I don't remember most of it. I do remember that there was only one girl working there I got along with, and the manager thought we chatted too much and never let us work together again after the first time, even though we did get our work done and it didn't hinder our ability to do our job. If anything it helped because we were in a good mood.

One time the assistant manager slipped in the kitchen and fell right on his butt and I couldn't help but laugh at him. That probably didn't help.

But yeah, I worked one job after that which didn't check my previous jobs. The next job was more of a "real" job and they checked my previous employment. They call up this Quizno's and apparently they no longer had a record of me working there. I called the manager, whose name I still remembered, and told her who I was and when I worked there and she just pretended to not know who I was... either that or her memory was horrible because it was only about a year later. Thankfully they eventually gave in and "lied" about me working there (or should I say told the truth).

I've never worked at Quizno's, but the workers just seem so sad...I don't like going there. Plus I don't like their sandwiches. And once they burned my bread bowl (that had chili in it) and said that was how it was supposed to be cooked. Hello, it's NOT SUPPOSED TO BE BLACK!! !! !! !! EVER! (I'm still just a tiny bit upset about that, huh? :P)

To the OP, I would recommend that you give a two week notice so they'll refer you. Only quit right away if you're dealing with an situation that is dangerous or abusive.

Well I quit two weeks ago, infact, the sunday after christmas. I go in, and I have a doctors appointment for Monday at 5pm, I tell the owner, since I was scheduled to start at 3, and he goes off on me, so I walked right out and went home, I was tired of getting bitched at for everything. The problem I had was the schedule was only posted THAT afternoon, it is supposed to be posted the Friday before. If THAT had happened, I would have had time to make the appropriate changes. I told the owner to go f**k himself and threw my hat down and walked right out.

DON'T QUIT! actually, get downsized or let go. Here's how this 'legal scam' works.

For every employee, the state requires the company to pay employee unemployment insurance. If you get fired, downsized, etc., the company that employed you sees their insurance rate go up. Now the way they get the rate ratcheted up is that you apply for unemployment, and that is held against your former employer.

However, this only applies to employees that are downsized, or are fired. If you quit, you're ineligible for unemployment, so their rate doesn't go up, you get screwed, and they're in the clear.

So what they're doing by cutting your hours is to get you to quit. So...what you need to do is find a 2nd job that will pull in enough money, then quit. Or you could work both jobs, you'd hardly be alone in this economy.

'Cause in the US, at least, there are no jobs available right now; at least that pay much.
