Last week my CEO announced that everyone could either take 1/2 a day off on company pay on the day before Christmas or the day before New Years, just as long as our offices were covered.

Today she "changed her mind" and said that what she meant was that anybody who wanted to take a 1/2 day off had to use their own leave time. Well, duh, that's what leave time is for.

Guess who got to tell the employees???

That sucks! Does your CEO hate you? What does she have against you? Is she one of those NTs who find us aspies inferior?

I'm curious as to how this went. I would think it would be easy for you to say that the CEO mispoke and have the employee hatred go toward the CEO rather than you. Or did they shoot the messenger?

LOL! no, I'll bet the Aspie-ness wasn't even a factor, spockezri! This is how they do things in the corporate work world. They say the corporation is a two story out house and the managers use the top floor! Guess who used the bottom floor!

absolutely like school! That is where everyone is conditioned to be that way! When ever I need to get some stability under me I work in a cubicle farm and have learned to avoid it as much as possible and be pleasant and cheerful as much as possible.

Jimmy Stewart, as Elwood P. Dowd, in that film classic "Harvey" said: Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, "In this world, Elwood, you must be" - she always called me Elwood - "In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant." Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant." I liked his approach. I try to remember it.

well, yes. I am surprised it comes as a surprise to you. People that feel deeply find their joys and blisses in uber social stuff, in their kids and family and relationships. Some folks go back to the land or become mountain climbers or long distance runners or some such. But corporate life is pretty cutthroat even when the economy is going great, so now that the economy is in the tank and belly up, only the strong will survive. The rest of us will try to survive somehow.

I recall my parents telling me how it was to live in the Great Depression in th 1930's. Whole families living under bridges because they were forclosed on and put out of their houses. My grandmother, in the 1960's saved every cent and bought canned goods . . every year we would go through her spare bedroom that had been made into a pantry and toss out bulging cans that had gone bad, but she just kept stockpiling food. It was a compulsive habit she got from trying to feed 6 kids during the Depression.

Well I had hope for life after school, the only reason I get depressed is when my routine changes and I only knew why I was getting depressed when I found out what AS really was. Good or bad, any change in my routine causes my depression, I am normally very happy and hopeful.
