My mom took me to meet with an agency which helps people with disabilities find jobs. I gave them a list of about a dozen places I was interested in and said I would even volunteer if needed. Well, none of the places would hire me for money but only two would let me volunteer, a pet store and a dog groomer.

I met with the pet store today and will go Tuesdays for 2.5 hours to start and a job coach will stay with me the entire time. I will be cleaning and feeding the animals. I am studying a Veterinary Technology program online and wanted to work with animals.

I have penpals as a hobby and constantly people will talk about their jobs, a lot. I always felt inadequate and sometimes got upset when someone would ask me what my "job" was.

It is a locally owned store and the owner is very knowledgeable and I know I will learn a lot.

Excellent, congratulations! And it's in your intended career field, so you'll be able to use it in your resume! And use the store owner as a reference, too! This is great!

Sorry you won't be getting paid, but it seems like it will pay off for you when you get out of college. Good luck, and have fun working with the animals :D
