11 year old arrested for drawings

Am I on drugs or something, because I can't believe what I've just seen.

A bum orchestrated a major scam to steal MILLIONS and stole $5000 from me! EVEN the FBI was involved! Punishment? Apparently NOTHING! A gang stole a LOT every year, committed credit fraud, and stole about $16000 from me! Punishment? Apparently NOTHING! People havve been caught embezzling even BILLIONS from the US! You know, that country between canada and mexico? Punishment? HECK NO! Some are LAUDED!

Let's personalize this! "TEACHERS" strike and even sometimes force kids to stay longer, etc....! PUNISHMENT? They get RAISES! HECK, I can't even spell "teacher" right because they are SO rare that I must always quote the word. And they complain about getting paid so little. They get FULL benefits, a special retirement fund, special benefits, do VERY little "work"(back to the quoting problem), and STILL get paid over 25% over the average private wage!

Kids that were less than 14 years old were found guilty of some rather heinous stuff, and not really punished.

And NOW an 11yo child gets ARRESTED for THROWING AWAY a STICK FIGURE picture?

COME ON!

America is heading back to faith and superstition. Superstition prevails whereever ignorance prevails.

What scares me the most about this story - which, even if exaggerated or untrue, I can TOTALLY see happening - is that I can absolutely evision my son doing this. He is such a literal thinker that to him, a drawing is JUST THAT - a drawing. To him there is ZERO connection between what he draws and what happens in reality. He has said things in moments of total frustration and anger like "I want to punch him in the face" or "I'm gonna kill you!!", which I know are just his way of expressing him intense emotions in language he knows matches the intensity of his feelings. Clearly the therapist recognized this about the child and wanted him to draw instead of speak these feelings. I have been coaching my son on understanding how these things are interpreted by others, but at age 7, there's only so far that will go. Can you imagine how traumatic this would be for our kids? It breaks my heart just thinking about it.

Ugh. Is there no end to our kids' vulnerability!?!?!

I think he needs to be somewhere else than public school, but not arrested.

I was always afraid of getting in trouble for my art in HS. Not that it was violent... just lewd.

Whats wrong with people these days, putting a kid in a cell for letting some of thoughts and feelings down on a paper, why would they even bother let kid go to such a place where they don't seem to understand the fact that the kid has trauma.

I once freaked out and wrote that I would destroy humanity because I where unhappy but you know it was just brain stream and frustrations trying to get out.

it's not just in colorado this particular town is less than half hour from columbine... aside from that i would say i'm sure it did calm him down but drawing a picture of one with a gun shooting 4 others with the words the teacher must die!! I am sure this is not what the therapist had in mind and would be somthing nobody should ignore.. dont know that he needed to be arrested certainly some therapy of some kind but since so many school shootings are on the rise all over the country schools nationwide now have a zero tolerance policy in place reguardless of the sped label. sad really you gotta wonder how ridged and un understanding must this teacher be for the kid to want them dead?

here they just get suspended and lectured my son is suspended at least monthly for simply saying " i want to kill someone" or "i want to hurt you" in response to anger he chooses the wrong words apparently this child chose the wrong drawing

Someone needs to provide a WikiLeaks service for children to anonymously upload all their violent drawings, then have agents fax them to schools all across the country. f**k the education system. Bunch of Orwellian c***s.
