Special interests...

Oh I totally agree!! My obsessions keep me up til 2am some mornings.... Having an interest in something is one of the main things in life that make me truly happy on the inside. Nothing freakish about them at all
KRX, thanks for the video! Just look how excited and happy he is! Great stuff, good on him! Exactly what it's all about

He looks like me when I'm let loose in a castle.
That's exactly what I mean.
He has his own stream channel with adds and the whole nine yards. I think its a wonderful example, not only because it's obvious how obsessive and lost he is in it, but because it's just as obvious that it's a hugely positive thing for him and his life.
It's a nerdy special interest (video games) that most parents would discourage and fight. But his family supported him all the way and now he is on his way to making a living from it, having a rich social life because of it, learning self esteem and life skills because of it...

my SO and our autie both get obsessive interests, but they come and go. they both usually revolve around tv shows or video games. i literally dread when my SO gets a new video game for his PC as he will do little else for weeks. he gets very irritable and grouchy when obsessed and tends to let the obsessions take over his life and supersede everything else. we download a lot of tv series in the summer months when our usual shows arent on, and last summer we got all 10 years of Smallville. SO became obsessed with watching all nearly 200 episodes, spending as much as 12-14 hours a day watching Smallville. he did this for weeks, staying up half the night watch episodes, barely getting any sleep. our house was completely controlled by Superman =/ i was very thankful when he finished watching them all, and so he was. he didnt even really enjoy watching it so much, he just couldnt stop.
this summer, i think we will only get shows that only have two or three years worth of episodes =)
