My five year old HFA child asked me tonight, "when you love someone, does your red heart in your chest send out little pink ones?"

We were talking about emotions (and biology, since hearts factor into descriptions of so many emotions and my boy knows his anatomy - ha!), and evidently he took all of the Valentines Day cartoons very literally. You know the ones where the heart is beating extra big in the cartoons chest then the little baby hearts come out? Too cute!

I'm waiting for the "hearts in your eyes" question, since cartoons do that a lot too. :D

Mother at the playground: "Boys and girls are so different."

My son, age 8, interrupting: "Yeah, girls have a vagina where their penis should be."

Tennis players say the darndest things, too:

Denis Istomin, in answer to a reporter's question about whether he had eleven toes said, "No, I wear size 13 shoes, so I have thirteen toes."

I was looking through the archives of this thread and saw that there was a story of a cat named "Pregnant." My cat was named "Puffy" because she was pregnant at the time we adopted her.

My son plays World of Goo, a physics computer game. He has astuffed polar bear we both love very much. He designed some "goo balls" for the game that were white and shaped like the bear's head with the bear's face and ears. He squeezed the bear's neck and said "Where I'm squeezing is the end of the gooball."

When my brother was about three he was being particularly fidgety one evening my stepmom asked him if he had
ants in his pants' he pulled the waistband of his pants open had a good look inside and then said: "There are no ants in my pants!"

Me: hey son, do you know what a clone is?
Son: yep
Me: would you like a clone of you?
Son: yep
Me: what would you do if you had a clone of you?
Son: I'd get the sharpest knife from the kitchen and stab it to death.
Me: 8O

Completely out of the blue, my son asked: “Mom, do you have any experience with a machete?”

I have had experience with a machete, so now I’m cool for once. I was helping clear land for a horse pasture.

Wow, that's really interesting, twilightprincess! It's really interesting when an unusual occurrence becomes an opportunity to bond.

My son and I went into a rarely used corridor of a big hospital for a doctor’s appointment.

Once we were inside, he said: “It’s so quiet and unsettling in here.”

“I love books!”

Yay! Reading with one’s kids is the best!
