I don't know how to tell you this but the bird has died. I feel SO upset because even though it was just a pet and not a human being, I feel as though I jinxed it by saying I never wanted it and that it would outlive me. I also feel guilty about having painters in here yesterday. Maybe something in the paint killed this poor bird. I'm in the Jersey City area and it has been relatively warm so the house did get proper ventilation. I don't know what happened. I called my older son to come and pick it up because I couldn't face the task. This was about 5:30 in the morning. Do you what he did?
Maybe he's desensitised because he's been to Iraq, but he imitated the skit from Monty Python's Flying Circus about the dead parrot. I didn't find this funny at all :x Well, anyway, he "promised" that he would give it a proper burial - one at least fit for bird...and he did give it a bit of a religious eulogy (spelling?) in front of me which was rather nice.
I do believe in "Rainbow Bridge" so I can imagine "Smokey" the African Grey being there now.
If you don't know what "Rainbow Bridge" is you can research it on the net. It's really a very beautiful thing to read - if you're an animal lover. :( Sorry.

Right Galaxy, I am really sorry for your loss and the upset you are feeling right now. Just because you were talking sarcastically about the creature doesn't mean you felt nothing for it.
