I guess the chewing of the straw or chewy tube doesn't have the same calming effect now that the teeth are not there to gnaw with. I suppose she could orient it to the side of the mouth?

Anyway, they gave her a pass to use to go to the counselor but she will not use it. Today she had an outburst of crying in the gym which is her usual area she avoids. On days she has PE her school refusal is worse. I know the gym is a common area of sensory difficulty. I don't know if that is it. I have such a hard time determining what induces the anxiety. She can go from seemingly calm to crying in a few seconds. The teachers feel the best way to deal with it is to ignore it and let her come out of it on her own.

Even being a detective, the clues are hard to pick up on. Also, I am not at school so I can't be the detective there, I have to rely on relayed information.
