Hi, My 14 year old, who has a diagnosis of autism, watched cartoons until he was 12 so it is ok.. plus when he "watches" his 2 little sisters, he watches Dora with them it is his way of learning spanish he says.. and besides, because of Dora, my 3 year old, (PDD), has learned to count to 10 in spanish plus she know several colors and about 6 words in spanish. So maybe your 8 year old likes the spanish part? So do not be to concerd.... :D

I always watched preschool shows YEARS after graudating preschool. I think it was because we didn't have cable or satelight when I was in preschool and I was simply making up for lost time. The preschool shows were often about animals or had animal characters and animals were my special intrest. I watched shows such as Space Cases and The Secret World of Alex Mack as well. I think it's also that times have changed, TV shows had a plot and a story line that could be followed. Shows such as Hananah Montana and iCarly basicaly follow the same plot (if you can even call it a plot) every episode. It's all blah blah blah and mindless drivel to me. Even as an adult, I have my DVR set up to record Arthur and The Busy World of Richard Scary and am not ashamed to admit it.

My mum played with her Barbies until she was fourteen.
