My daughter also shows these traits. This is what I have come to find out. It may be relevent to your situation, it may not:

Aspies who are not supported properly display anxiety. This anxiety can be severe and doctors may prescribe anti depressants (SSRI's) to deal with the anxiety. The application of SSRI's in some people with AS will cause Bipolar presentation-agitation, manias, depression and mood swings. Once they are weaned off the SSRI's the bipolar can continue to manifest, as if application of the SSRI activatd the Bipolar condition. This can include rituals, OCD behavior and meltdowns (rages).

It might be helpful for you to get the book "Bipolar Kids: Helping Your Child Find Calm in the Mood Storm" by Rosalie Greenberg It describes in detail this phenomenon and what to do about it.
