Thank you Eureka-C! I was afraid that might be the case :? . Since that is the case, I pray and hope he NEVER has a meltdown in school.... :(

Even if your child never has a meltdown at school, most children with AS need help with social skills, but only get it if they request/demand it.

another common need is treatment by an OT for sensory integration disorder or sensory processing dysfunction.

And if your child does have meltdowns at school, they will have to develop a functional behavior plan to meet those needs.

I am glad your child is successful. I just worry about parents getting "burned" by the system like we did. They kept minimizing the problems. They were also doing many things to deal with the problems without really addressing the problems that they went on for far too long just because of mine and my husband's ignorance. I was a teacher for 12 years and I still had no idea.
