You know, I almost forgot one other thing that can happen with rewards. My middle son very quickly discovered the art of negotiation. As soon as that happened we had a choice between going broke or stopping the rewards altogether with him. :lol:

I'm not likely to be around much longer. As before when I first signed up here years ago, I'm finding that after a long hiatus, and after only a few days back on here, I'm spending way too much time here again already. So I'm requesting my account be locked, banned or whatever. It's just time. Until then, well, I dunno...

I think it depends on why it is he doesn't want to be at the rug. For my son, sitting next to the other kids at the rug seems to cause him an intense amount of anxiety. He can tolerate it for a few moments, a little longer if he can sit in an adult's lap but otherwise he is just better off sitting in a chair or at a desk next to the rug so he can be part of the story time or whatever is happening but not have to sit next to the other kids. This may not be true for your son, I just throw it out there to say there are other reasons than lack of attention span that make it difficult for some kiddos to stay engaged in certain activities.
