How to combat arguing
My daughter does this AND I do this.
You will not make headway until the child is old enough to know and realize that their feelings do not match the facts.
I was blindly like this for many years. Then one day I realized that the reason I was having social issues did infact have EVERYTHING to do with how I interacted with people. I blamed it on everyone else for the longest time. Then I had to accept that whether or not I understood what I was doing was strange or weird, I had to take other peoples word on it, blindly, and then try to adjust my behavior, blindly.
I still have issues with this because I have to really sit and think about situations to really understand or get if I was behaving properly and often I have to flat out ask another person if what I did or said was ok or not ok. Then I can go from there.
My daughter is not "there" yet and won't be for awhile. I have told her that she should just accept what I am telling her, but with an utter inability to put herself in another persons shoes, it doesn't work.
Hope that makes sense. It's not something I do on purpose, it's just really really hard to understand because I like people and I have no ill feelings toward them and I didn't meant o be rude and insulting, so why are the insulted and think that I'm rude. I understand now, but still have a really hard time actually seeing it.
