I like being able to read ideas from anyone kind who has interesting ideas. I originally identified as having a family member with AS looking for parenting information, but was lurking and posting elsewhere besides the parents forum, and someone posted and PMed their disapproval. It was upsetting, so changed my profile and now am uneasy responding as you're looking for NT responses!!

Most people at WrongPlanet, though, seem accepting of differences. And the majority seem to stop obsessing about labels after being here awhile.

I don't see anything offensive about wanting to better understand others, especially your child. I think the reason for bashing of a whole group is often a lack of relating and understanding and that your trying to understand is a good thing. Not everyone will see it this way, but you're never going to make everyone happy.

That's pretty mean. You shouldn't feel bad about posting any where.

+1

Everyone is entitled to expressing opinions especially if done respectfully. Also questions are welcome as well. Trolling on the other hand is not appreciated. You should feel free to post and ignore the negativity if possible.

This is supposed to be a safe place for autistics to vent so let them.

I think that is a good point- that this is basically a place for those who are autistic. I am here basically for my son- to learn about him, get advice, etc. I want what is best for him. My BF, as I've mentioned before, has Asperger's so I might find other sections useful as well. New to the forum and don't get much time to browse at the moment.
