Thank you for the (helpful) replies. I sort of avoided coming back to this thread for a while because I was so angry and annoyed. But the latest replies were helpful and informative.
I often wonder if ADHD meds would lessen a lot of his social issues. I try not to think that there is a "simple solution" like that, and right now, at 5, my son is too young for me to comfortably consider this type of medication. But I have read a lot of forums where parents report such similar behaviour and impulsivity that sounds exactly like my son's, and they say that ADHD meds was a complete turnaround for them. We'll see.

We have had some more successful social outings since then. My boy seems to do so well in highly-structured group activities, but horribly at anything with little or no structure. He is great at yoga class, story-time group and the special sports groups for autistic kids that he attends. But put into a group or social situation where people are interacting more freely, he is all over the place touching everyone and everything, rolling around, climbing.

Anyway, I'll be thinking about the things you said and suggested. Thanks again. I really hope someday I feel like I know what I'm doing like you guys seem to! :)
