more baby tips needed please
Indeed, she is gorgeous! My 4 month old hated tummy time at first too. Try rolling up a small baby blanket and putting it under her armpits and across her chest to prop her up a little bit. That seemed to help Jordan. I got Jordan a floor mirror too that has toys around the edge- he loves to look at himself and reaches for himself and the toys. He just turned 4 months and is rolling both ways now. All babies grow and develop at different rates. My 4 y/o didn't roll over until 6 months- was a budha baby though, very chubby. My 9 y/o and 5 y/o both were rolling around 4-5 months. Only the 9 y/o is my bio kid, so genetics isn't at play here. My 9 y/o walked at 7 1/2 months. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. LOL!
Don't worry about her moving around much. Remember, this is the time to enjoy that you can put her down somewhere and she pretty much stays in place. Before you know it, you'll be chasing her around the house and she'll be getting into everything and driving you nuts! Hehe!
[quote="Juliette"]As someone who has cared for and assessed many a baby, typical and atypical, I agree with all comments above in that Baby Olivia is completely gorgeous
. As has been commented on, age level expectancies always represent a range and never an exact point in time when specific skills will be achieved. As sure as no two children grow and develop at exactly the same rate, be assured that Olivia's range of skills and the age at which she acquires those skills, is open to great variation. It's important to remember that it's sequence and not age that is the important factor in evaluating children's progress.quote]
To add on to that, I work in early intervention with the infant toddler program...sequence of developmental milestones is important. Some babies hate tummy time. I often get out toys, a mirror, something for them to reach for to help stimulate them to use those muscles. The muscle groups involved in pushing up on their tummy is different than standing or sitting. Usually the recommendation is 20 minutes a day, but I have some children that I recommend tummy time several times throughout the day. It is great that you are attentive. If in doubt, call your local infant toddler program. Every child is entitled to a consultation under IDEA part C ![]()
