negative behavior
This may sound a bit strange but one of the things I would have found helpful as a kid is if my parents had said to me.....
"You are right to be upset by their behavior. It was wrong and it is sad that some people are so ignorant that they treat others cruelly for no reason, but you are not going to make them smarter by spiitting or hitting. Hopefuly they will out grow their ignorance eventually but many will not, so you are going to need to learn how to ignore and pity them for their lack of intelligence. "
I don't know how to put this into "kid speak" but I know the message is one that has served me well in life and the change in perspective makes me have more empathy for the "poor monkeys" that populate the world.<---- I know that sounds vain but it's meant to be a bit "toungue in cheek" .

You are certainly right in all you said, etc... but your statement about "not going to make them smarter" fell on deaf ears with me, and sounded condescending. By that, I mean that is how I felt when told the same kind of things as a kid. I also didn't like the statement "They will grow out of it". GUESS WHAT FOLKS! They generally DON'T grow out of it! It just CHANGES sometimes because, if it doesn't, they will get LOCKED UP!
As for "poor monkeys", they can be called, on one level, APES, and I HAVE said we seem to be moving more and more to something that looks like planet of the apes. WHO KNOWS, maybe it will actually happen!
It is surprising how few know the story of the apes. That is, perhaps, because it was kind of told backwards. Without going into timetravel, and the later paradox given, it started when domestic pets died out, and people decided to keep apes as pets and have them do chores and act as servants. Eventually, the apes began to speak, and overthrew the humans. They THEN burried the human's past, and tried to salvage the technology they could understand. If you look at the past, and current behavior, and the relative intelligence and abilities of apes, it doesn't seem all that far fetched!
The second part is FAR less unlikely, as it is certainly happening NOW! The surviving humans, cut off from others and having to forage, etc... Lost touch even with the most basic technology. Of course, the apes DID keep humans as pets, and any that could talk would be invasively studied. If you recall, that IS how one of the survivors of the crash lost HIS ability to communicate.
If people are making annoying noises, we should be allowed to ask them to stop doing it. It's just common courtesy to stop doing things that bother other people. Aspies shouldn't have to be treated like second class citizens because of their sensory issues such as noise sensitivities.
