Books For Sex Ed

I am looking for a book recommendation for teen HFA boys who are interested in exploring/learning more about sex.

My son is interested in learning more. A week or so ago, I found a great recommendation here on the forums, but now I can't find the post.

If anyone has any info, that'd be great!

I didn't see the post your talking about but a book that I found helpful with my kids and it covers everything in a very clear easy to understand way is call "It's perfectly normal". It starts with the this your body and this is how it will change stuff and it goes in to the the deeper isuses. I've read the whole thing but have only used the basic begaining with my boys as they are young and not realy ready for the other parts of the book. It's not something you should leave in his room and walk away but it's great to look at with your kids and helps aswer the questions they have in a very clear child friendly way.

I agree this is a great book. The author is Robie Harris, I think. It's part of a series that ages up with your child. Depending on your child's comfort level with these topics, you might start with the younger one (It's So Amazing) as it covers some basics of puberty and reproduction. I did leave these books in my childrens' rooms after brief, matter-of-fact discussions about the topics, as that worked best for us (my kids ask in the moment questions and then mull the answer). "It's Perfectly Normal" does deal with some of the more serious aspects of sex like HIV so I broached all of those topics with them in generic ways first.

By leaving the book I ment just tossing it in the kids room and running off never talking about it. It sounds like what you did was right for your kids and your family. Thanks for the information about the other book I'll be looking for that for my 9 yr old.

I bought What's Happening To My Body Book for Girls and What's Happening To My Body Book For Boys, even though they were only for my boys. I gave them the books when the oldest was in 5th grade. I never thought about it again until I occasionally saw them reading the books. We never talked about it.

I liked the books but the few reviews I saw just now in Amazon had some who were down on the books for being too explicit. I sat in on a fifth grade sex education class once and was shocked at all the information but it's probably the right thing, that they find it all out in settings where they aren't getting false information.
