Sorry, I don't know anything about that med, but I wanted to give you a big HUG! That has to be so scary. Good luck with the doc.

Sorry I don't know about that drug but you can try this site someone gave to me www.crazymeds.org
The site was created and maintained by a young adult with BP and AS. The site is very in your face but the info is right on and the package inserts are available on the site. It is interesting to hear from an adult with both AS and BP.

I remember when my son did that also when he was younger. Thank God he doesnt do that anymore or wants to do it either. I hope everything went well with the Doc.

i left that site because it was TOO in-your-face....i agree, though, that it does have good information on side effects of meds. we were supposed to have son's psychiatrist appt this evening, but dr never showed up :x . i called and he said, "oh, your appt is next week". whatever. son hasn't done anymore cutting, but i'm still worried about it escalating.

Did you ever go on http://aane.autistics.org/ and see if they have any therapists in your area that specialize in Aspergers. I've hated when doc's do that. I finally found a doctor that specializes in ASD's for kids and adults and actually no pressure when I've had to cancel when son had a meltdown. Others would tell me I had to pay even if ds didn't go :x I would go then by myself since I had to pay for the darn appointment anyway. I'm glad to hear he's stopped.

Does he do that when he's having problems at school or something is bothering him? My son started that roughly around puberty and the girl thing. Whenever he felt rejected by one thing or another or wasn't comprehending or misjudging things he started to do that. The plus side was I knew their was a problem and would investigate through his social worker at school class by class to see if anything was wrong at school. Eventually I would find out and then talk to my son....not overnight miracles...but we would get to the root and he would stop. My fear was not knowing when he was doing stuff like that because then he would brew longer and always afraid he would hurt himself more. Now finally he will talk to me what is bothering him because he knows I'm there and probably have had gone through it myself.

son totally denies that he did it purposely....he says that he was in the backyard and got scratched by some bushes  ok........he had a long sleeve shirt on, and the scratches were only at his wrist.usually when son cuts, he does so because he is feeling very pressured~ like things are just too much to deal with....no more cutting since the other day, so hopefully this was an isolated incident~keeping an eye on things regardless.
