Got Screening Referral

I just got my son's screening referral, What goes on during the screenings? How or what kind of tests are done?
His pediatrician kinda acted insulted when I asked him for the referral, saying he didn't see why I needed one, but his speech pathologists said that it was something that I should look into.
But regardless, I have gotten the referral. (and the appt. is next week, 2-17)
The screening is taking place in NC, if that helps.
