my 5.5 yo son started to cut the words. he usually cuts the last word in the sentence and those are all the words that he knows. he would say "pla" instead "plane" and so on. We did start a game with him about recognizing the first letter and he likes it and is good at it so maybe it is a word game. I wouldn't worry about it but his Speech Therapist says he is regressing. We didn't see that at home but I am very scared by childhood disintegrative disorder.
Did anyone have similar experiences?

Yes, when my son was about your son's age he would say mil for milk. So whenever I said milk I would over emphasize the hard k sound and draw it out. It worked too well, he started pronouncing it with a long guttural K at the end. :)

My son has the opposite problem. If the last word in whatever phrase or sentence he's saying ends in a consonant, he will pronounce that consonant three times. If he's tired, he will just get stuck on that consonant and keep pronouncing it until I redirect his attention. It's especially sad because his sister's name ends with an "x," which is hard for him to pronounce, and he will spend forever trying to pronounce her name with three "x" sounds at the end.
