8 year old son with Aspergers (diagnosed approx. 2 mo.ago). started on Intuniv 1mg in morning. He was already taking Focalin XR 15 mg every morning. He is so tired he is just not himself. Does anyone give this at night because doctor has me increasing dose to 2 mg. next week?

My son takes intuniv around 2:30 in the afternoon. If we give it to him in the morning it makes him real tired and then makes for a real long day.

I would assume your child has been diagnosed with ADHD as a co-morbid?

Yes ADHD too, but the main reason for the Intuniv is he has developed tics and the doctor said Intuniv works well for those too. Helps with ADHD, promotes rest and also tics. The tics are associated with the Aspergers but can be made worse by the Focalin he is also on. Doc says if we address tics now they will most likely go away but doing nothing can make them permanent.

Right now he is diagnosed ADHD and OCD. They don't want to make a aspergers decision until he is a little older. I think the ADHD/OCD diganosis is going to stick though. He does have some asperger type traits, but the ADHD is by far the most dominant.

I don't know if the AS traits are strong enough for a medical diagnosis, but we are working with the school to get a 'educational' autism status, that will open up the doors for him.
