Just wonderful. This is the part of having a Aspie child that the autism fearmongers don't want people to know about.

Thanks, I enjoyed that.

Because it's a cartoon, I would assume it wasn't spontaneous. Was it a recorded conversation someone added pictures to, or was it acted? I couldn't tell from the information with the video ... although you might not know, either. Just curious.

I saw this at the Huffington post and what it said there was that StoryCorps set up sites where anybody could do an interview, and recorded them. The animation was added later.

Here's the link to the Huffington post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/05/0 ... 2850.html'

"In Dave Isay's new book, "MOM," he collects the best pieces of mom-related stories from StoryCorps. Over six years, the organization put up booths where normal people could interview each other about anything they wanted. This one, just animated by StoryCorps, is a twelve-year-old autistic boy interviewing his mom about what it's like to raise him. We were struck by his perceptiveness, his mom's honesty, and the amazing relationship that comes through in just four minutes."

Oh wow. Thank you for posting that. I want to be just like that when my daughter is older and starts asking such questions. This was really inspiring.

I only hope that my son will think I am a tiny bit like that. Tears? OMG! Tears!

My boy also has on-again/off-again obession with animals and I loved loved loved the first question!! Also how the mom talked about being forced to think outside the box since parenting manuals don't discuss how to handle kids with ASD. I hope my son will be able to express himself like that one day.

Great video.

I had to give up parenting books very early on. (My son was "odd" from the get-go.) They made me so sad.
