Some members at WP are encountering a program that claims to be an anti-virus scan. DO NOT ALLOW this to run. CLOSE YOUR BROWSER immediately if a scan starts that you did not initiate. The scan is a scam.

Apparently using Firefox (browser) with adblocker will prevent the malware from running, as it most likely comes in through one of the ads on the site. My AVG firewall seems to be catching it and blocking as well (I have gotten warnings about infection at the site but NONE come with a request to scan). Quite a few websites are dealing with similar malware issues, and I do not know when it can be resolved. Since some of our parents come here with limited internet experience, I thought it important to let everyone know.

Ditto here, I never clicked run but it ran anyway every time I visited this site. I've stayed away for a while hoping it would be gone by the time I came back :)

I got this too. It disguises itself as Norton sometimes. I am not very good with computers so I downloaded it...

AVG kills it off though so I would reccomend downloading it if you haven't already got virus protection.

I know of Malware like this. It's called MS Antivirus . Now, whether or not MS Antivirus is the actual problem here, I'm not sure. But, in any case, DO NOT CLICK ON ANY SCAN THAT YOU DID NOT START! Malware is terrible stuff.

Mac users, I don't think you guys have to worry. I recently talked to a Mac specialist, who said that there are no known viruses in the wild (right now, anyway) that are programmed for Macs. But, take caution, just to be safe anyway.
