It's been a rough month for my son at school and at home but tonight my 8 year old Aspie called 911 and then immediately hung up. He was angry with me because I refused to buy him any new Yu-gi-oh cards ,his current obsession, tonight (just tonight, new day to earn them tomorrow!!) due to some behavior issues this afternoon. I was not aware that he had done that so imagine my embarrassment when the patrol car pulled up with lights and all and I had to tell the officer what was going on. Luckily, he was a parent and very understanding. In his defense, my son thought as long as he immediately hung up the phone, it wouldn't be a problem. and he was very upset when he saw the officer. :::shaking my head:::

I have been thinking about trying to explain to my almost 5 yr old son about emergencies and that he should call 911 if something happens to me at home. The problem is that he is obsessed with the phones and just pushing the buttons so that he can hear the recordings come on. I think I better wait a while longer before I teach him this.LOL!

I had trouble dialing my mother's phone number, which starts with 9 - the problem was with the phone company but we didn't know that yet. After a half-dozen tries I got through to Mom, but then there was a loud pounding on my front door - 2 huge police officers, with guns! (still in their holsters, but still). Apparently one of my calls had connected to 911 without my knowing it, and since they couldn't call back (I was talking to Mom) they sent The Law to save me. They seemed glad to know nothing was wrong; I was very sorry to waste their time.

This happened once at our house, too. I couldn't believe it either. Apparently DH was lying on the floor playing with kids and they squeezed his cell phone in his pocket, and it called 911. He didn't have it on speed dial, the kids actually managed to bump 9-1-1. None of them realized anything until they called back. From then on he switched to a phone with a cover. (That was years ago with the old styled phones.)
