What would you think if there was a social networking for our kids?

I was looking at options that work with Wordpress.

BuddyPress is the latest in Social Networking that's easy to create.

That's a great explanation of what is and simple.

I'd be interested in what other parents think? Do you think "our" kids would be interested? Do you think it would need monitoring? Other thoughts and ideas?

Apparently you can add lots of plugins etc and I haven't totally explored it yet only just installed it on my personal site.

mine's still a bit young for a social network, but I am a part of a pokemon (yes I play pokemon lol) network on socialgo, which is a pretty decent place. I'm not sure about privacy settings and whatnot, but that's another place to check out

Mine grew out of Pokemon but my daughter (not AS, only ADHD) loves Pokemon. I'll have to check it out.

I think it could be a really good thing if it were well monitored. Kids don't always have the best judgement but if you throw in social skills empairment things can go south pretty fast. It might be a huge help to my two eldest. Little Guy does well socially.

But I was thinking I could host a wordpress one on my personal domain.

Different areas could be typical social areas (school, dating, etc) using a forum. But could have articles for self help etc. Photo Gallery, Blogs, etc.

And yes monitoring.
