I want to express my gratitude to both the NT and ASD parents on the board for contributing such wonderful information and support.

This past summer was a very confusing and difficult time in my life as my son was diagnosed ASD. Since the diagnosis he has done a complete 180, and so has my parenting style.

I attribute a large percentage of the changes to the information I received from this forum. No book could have provided so much in-depth advice and information.

I especially appreciate the ASD diagnosed people and parents on the forum that are willing to interpret and analyze behaviors from their perspective. This is truly priceless.

I agree - and further.... Thank YOU for sending me here. We were both on the BP kids forum and something just wasn't right. You sent me to WP and DS's life has improved exponentially!

I have a lot of people here to be thankful to, as well. Plus a whole bunch over at Aspies for Freedom, which is where I posted before I found this place (a nice forum, too, just that parenting board isn't nearly as active).

So much of what we need to do with our kids is un-chartered territory, and there are no right or wrong answers. It helps so much to hear a wide range of experiences, even when none of the answers seem quite right, because it is all needed to help intuit that one unique answer for the one unique child.

Thanks for starting this thread, bjtoa.

LOL, that is so funny. I didn't realize that is why you were actually here! That is awesome. I am not on BP kids much anymore, just sometimes. Things just really clicked here. :) You made me smile.

Yup - never heard of WP until you said to check it out! So, thanks - I think this is a really good place!

At this point I doubt the BP dx altogether. I think that as a reaction to meds, DS had some episodes that lokk like BP. I don't know if they actually are BP though. What I have learned here has helped so much and it probably wouldn't make much of a difference if it were only BP. (not to say that the BP isn't there, but he's stable now so all we see is AS - who can know?)

Thanks are not necessary, you can just send a check to me at DenvrDave, PO Box 1, Denver, etc etc.

Just kidding :D

I feel the same way...our lives have improved significantly since joining this forum. So I too am grateful for the people on this forum and I appreciate you starting this thread.

Yes I feel so grateful too for having discovered Wrong Planet, thanks Alex for coming up with such a great website! Before I ever knew my daughter has AS I had been googling "my daughter is a loner", which several people had called her, and someones description of their child sounded exactly like her, and after that I somehow found my way to wp. I don't know what I would do without the support and understanding, and just knowing I'm not the only parent in the world who s child is so unique, as I only know one other person with an AS boy and no other girls.
She doesnt seem to have the interest to go on it herself, but thats ok, it's there if she ever does. :)

I was going to add my general thanks...but, since you just posted - CockneyRebel, I just saw your earlier post today, and at the time, thought but did not write "Thanks for being the WP welcoming committee." So I'm writing it now, because it's always nice to see your friendly welcome...I see people in distress posting and sometimes I'm just not up to saying anything. I'm glad you are there.
