New to this site and need to vent. I am a single parent with a severe ADHD combined type and new diagnosis of Asperger's and of course several other issues, she is 9 yrs old. Long story short I have been advocating for her since the first symptoms at age 3. I am wearing down not taking care of myself, my fault alone and I own that and I know I should take care of me to be a better parent for her, okay. None of my friends have a clue of understanding my situation and I just wish I had one friend that gets all this, so here I am talking to WP in mass. Yes, I am reading up on Asperger's and social stories, and its miles and miles of information. I take walks on my lunch break just to destress and think of nothing, and its helping a little. A co-worker gave me this website info and I am thankful. All comments welcome.

Welcome. We have many parents who share the feelings and needs you've expressed.

Otherwise, I'm not sure what to talk about. We tend to have issue based discussions, with a question and an answer. Although, of course, the answer may or may not apply: ferreting out the proper solution on the internet is often a process of reading between the lines and relying on instinct. Still, it all gets everyone thinking and sometimes you get one of those "aha" moments that really changes things for the better in your family.

Stick around and hopefully you'll read some things that can help you and your wonderful child, as well.
