Just wondering what others' thoughts are on this series. I have been really, deeply disappointed and expected MUCH better from PBS. The language is really offensive to me, and they did not interview one single autistic person for the entire 6 episode series.

You can watch them online with this link - scroll down and on the right hand side you'll see links to each episode. Each one is roughly 30 minutes long. http://www.pbs.org/newshour/news/autism/

I enjoyed them and thought they were well done, though I can see where someone might take offense to some of the things said in the last segment. However I saw so much of my own child in the segment done on his grandson and related on a personal level that my overall opinion may have been swayed. You do have a point though that when all the segments are taken as a whole there is still much more to be said about autism and how people are often both more and less profoundly affected than by what was portrayed.

I only watched the first and the last segment, but really enjoyed them. :)
I must admit, I would love to see a story about a not so obvious (perhaps aspie) person on the spectrum. I think more needs to go into educating the public on the entire spectrum. So even though I enjoyed what I seen (I didn't agree with every thing) I was a little disappointed.

My Aunt put me on to the show, she watched it and then called me to view it on the net. My Aunt hasn't seen either of my boys in 9 years, so my youngest was 3 and my oldest was 12. It was ironic that we went to visit her the day after she'd seen the show, and I think she was a little confused because neither of my boys are exactly like the boys in the program.
