I know there's another thread in the General Autism Discussion section which is similar, however I would like to ask here because I would like to know how long some people's (or their children's) referral to CAMHS took.
I was asked whether I wanted a referral to CAMHS and went along with it, but the mother of someone I went to primary school with - and has three children on the spectrum - says that they didn't want to diagnose anything, until after her eldest (at the time aged 12) got put into a mental home, and that I should go to a specific place.
I realise that this will vary across areas and circumstances, but I would still be interested to know.
