Locker Problems
The school even after meetings not listening, my son is stressed out everyday over a stupid locker not stupid to him I understand, the school have a system that the longer your at the school you get a better locker. Last year my son had his locker on the bottom where he has to bend down and of course hates others standing over him, the puplil next to him smelled of cigarettes the bin was near him and the rest. This year he was moved up to the middle eye level but the problem was that it was at the back of room and he couldn't cope with the crowd and noise. I ask in the meeting for a locker nearer the exit and they gave him one but on the bottom this has been a nightmare. Two meetings and they promised to change it now they won't stupidity he has to go to his locker in the morning when his anxieties are high and this just adds to it.
He also finds orgainising his locker difficult there has been improvement lately, but holidays are coming sometimes it takes him a while to find his feet when he returns. They had put in place someone to help with his locker but the problem was she would ask him in front of his peers so he would refuse. He still has difficulties at home time worried that he will miss the bus then he can forget to bring books home for homework, this causes school refusal the next day because he hasn't his homework completed
.
I have told him to only use the locker 2 times a day but no he wants to be the same as everyone else no matter how much he gets distressed.
I have huge difficulties they never listen untill the problem effects the school in some way and then they are ready to talk. The education pyschologist keeps reviewing but nothing much is in place actually happening, my feeling is that its just a ply and suddenly I will be told oh look he had made it through the year that's progress never mind how much he has lost out whilst we try and agree crazy.

I think I remember someone here having the school give them a second set of books to keep at home so that their child did not have to worry about which books needed to come home. Would it help him if he just had fewer things he needed to bring home, like maybe just his notebooks and he would not even have to put those in his locker if he carries a back-pack around all day anyway? Just a thought.
My son gave up on his locker completely in middle school, just carrying around the entire universe in his backpack. And he was not the only kid doing that.
To reduce the backpack load you might be able to get extra copies of textbooks so one can be at home, and one at school. That might be easier than trying to get the locker assignments fixed (oops, see you've already asked ... keep trying; note that an outdated version they haven't tossed yet might be easier to get a hold of).
There just are no good locker assignments. Always crowded, noisy, and filled with annoying neighbors.

he refuses to carry all his books I have said this to him, I don't allow him to leave any books or copies at home that way he doesn't forget to bring them to school.
He won't use another copy for the same subject because he says he gets confused. He will use a sheet of paper just if he forgets his copy hates it afraid he will lose it. It is not easy!
Things are getting better had a good week as it is his 2nd year in post primary I am hoping things will come together soon we are getting there.
momsparky the locker can be very problematic so get as much ideas or advice now, the big one for us was the position of the locker. Some schools have separate lockers away from the busy crowds this is ideal.
My son wants to be like his peers very much it makes it harder when looking for support, I think another good idea if time is a problem to let them out of class 5mins before the rest of the students or give an extra 5mins before class this way they can avoid the crowds and helps with getting over anxious.
I will discuss this at the next meeting my son told me that there is a pupil with a disability needs a walking aid his locker is away from the other students hopefully my son might be able to get one.
