Love of another
Is it possible for NT parents to love someone else's child especially if that other child has no autism? Or if you have a child with autism and another who isn't, do you love the child with no autism better? Just wondering... ![]()

I don't know about loving someone else's child but I have 2 boys one autistic and one not. I love them both more than anything on earth. I am actually more physically affectionate with my ASD son because he likes more physical affection. My NT boy is 8 and at that point where hugs and kisses from Mom just aren't cool anymore (well, I suppose they were never COOL but you know...) though when he is sick or tired, he will still seek out some cuddle time with Mom. My ASD boy does cause me more worry and heartache mainly because he is having a hard time at school but I wouldn't be so affected by his plight if I didn't love him deeply. I can't speak for anyone else but autism or no I would gladly give my life for either of my boys, they are my children and I love them both unconditionally.
I am NT and I love my friend's kids very much She has a boy and a girl and I love them both but I am especially drawn to the boy. He has some autistic traits but is not diagnosed. Also, when I was younger I loved my cousins very much (they were children when I was in my 20's). They are grown now and we are still very close. BUT most of the time, with other people's kids I don't feel that "love" for them.
