Hi everyone

My daughter is 6yrs and awaiting autism assessment. She has some Aspergers traits, but doesn't meet enough of the criteria, so is more likely to get a diagnosis of (very) HFA.

Over the past couple of weeks, she has been complaining on and off about a pain in her left breast area. I've looked at it and it might be my imagination, but I think it looks more puffy than the right breast. Last night she said that her left breast felt fat. I've made an appointment to see our GP on Thursday. I'm concerned that she might be going through a precocious puberty. She's also very tall for her age, with large hands and feet and is beginning to look a little curvy around the hip area. I can't say she's had a pre-puberty stretch, because her growth has been steady and she's been taller than most of her peers since she was a year old. But, I am worried.

The mood swing thing is puzzling. My daughter has had mood swings for years. I've described her as a cross between a moody teenager and a hyper toddler. But, 2 months ago, her behavour dramatically improved. The mood swings have stopped, as did the hyperactivity and she's much easier to live with. Considering that her physical changes are causing me to suspect a precocious puberty, I'm confused that her emotional state is the opposite of what would be expected.

Can I ask, what were the puberty mood swings (if any) like in your ASD child? And does anyone have any experience of a child going through a precocious puberty.

Thanks

I started masturbating at 12, which is considered somewhat early.
But Im almost 16 an have the emotional maturity of about 8th grade.
My phyaical maturity came a lot earlier.
Its part of the disorder

Sorry, I don't have any experience with precocious puberty but I can tell you I was a tall, moody child who went right through to being an even taller, even moodier teenager. :) I didn't have any real physical changes until I was about 11 or 12 though. I have an 8 year old daughter (who has some Asperger's traits) and she's just as moody and tall as I was at her age.
