My son came home with a Brag Tag yesterday.
This is a program at his school where the school personnel gives them a paper (brag tag) to let them know they were doing something good. There is a list of honorable characteristics like honesty, perseverance, etc. As a reward they get their name on the brag board, a good phone call home and something else... I can't remember. What I do know is that my son has never gotten one before and he was sooooo proud.
Another student crumbled his paper, and he stayed calm, and asked for another paper. This is awesome for him. At the beginning of the year, this would have sent him into an all day meltdown. I don't know what instigated the paper crumbling, but he handled it well, and the teacher handled it well (in the past, we have had teachers who would refuse to give him another paper - i.e. he erased a hole in it, someone stepped on it, someone marked on it etc.) I don't feel like I can brag to other parents around me, but I thought the parents here would get how big a deal this is.
