Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

My twins have an ASD diagnosis. They love the ipad and I am looking for app suggestions. I would love anything that encourages language, but also anything that will interest them.

Right now they both love anything with letters, numbers and colors.

Any ideas on apps that help with motor planning? They have suspected apraxia.

Thanks!

My son is 3 1/2 now and his languge is just coming in. He did have echolalia from about 2 1/2. One of the recommendations that a speach therapist hd made was to read to him and talk about the story and ask him questions, even though he wouldn't respond. I think that really helped him a lot to develop his speah. He is still not a big talker but he has come so far. I think that also taught him how to read and fostered a love of books in him.

I believe there is an iPad or internet game based on the children's show called Team Umizoomi. My almost-3-year-old brother loves the show. If you've never heard of it, it's math-based and it encourages the children viewers to try and solve the problem and call out the answer.

ShapeBuilder and Tozzle are both puzzle games my 2.5 yo toddlers love. Dragging the piece to the right spot probably involves motor planning. They also love Monkey Math, Preschool Lunchbox, and the Tab Tale books. Also check out KneeBouncers, Count Bees, and Junior Bingo (aka Bingo Bugs Junior )

I like everything by Toca Boca and they have several free apps to try. Many apps have video reviews that you can watch on YouTube so you can get an idea if they're right for you before downloading or purchasing. When my son was a little younger some of the apps I got for him were: Everything by Toca Boca, iWriteWords, Phone4Kids, (free) Neon Mania, My Play Home, Monster at the end of this Book, Charlie Brown Christmas (got it for .99 cents on Christmas day), The Electric Company, Doodle Dots .... The only app I've paid a significant amount of money for so far is Reading Rainbow ($30 for a 6 month subscription) which might be suited for a slightly older child .... but it is worth it! I periodically search for apps by PBS Kids, Sprout, Disney, Nickelodeon, Leap Frog, Fisher Price, Toca Boca, Dr. Seuss, anything he may have a specific interest in like Thomas the Train ... I'm probably forgetting a few ... but I often find good free or .99 cent apps that way! Some other apps I'm happy with but might be just a little advanced (not by much) at this time are EduKitty, Drawing Carl, Howl Mouse, Hungry Fish, Alien Buddies, Math Monsters.... I don't remember which ones were free.
