since my 14 y/o is now living with me he had to move schools , tomorrow he is starting at new school
BBut because this arrangement was rather sudden we havent had a chance to show him around his new school so tomorrow might be rather daunting for him

I booked this week off work and but do you think it will be a good idea for me to go into the school with him tomorrow morning and take him to the office? I feel as a parent i should do this but he says he will be fine going in on his own
but i dont know if he is right or if im am right
will he get bullied if he is seen with his mum inside a school? im not too familiar with how the minds of teenagers at mainstream school work as i never went to a mainstream school as a teenager

Likely.
Better let him go on his own.
Is he autistic?

I think he’s NT.

Magz is right. Better let him go on his own.

no,he is neurotypical

Im just feeling nervous for him and feeling for other people is strange for me cos i usually have a social and emotional disconnection from others

He’s your son. It’s natural to feel a connection to him.

I would also say no, not if he's 14. He wouldn't necessarily get bullied, but he might worry about getting bullied because you are there. I would take his lead on this decision. When students start new schools they are usually shown around by their peers who act somewhat like ambassadors. His teacher will also help him get adjusted.

I think it is perfectly natural for you to feel nervous but I think the best way you can help him is by trusting him and his abilities.

If it’s less than a quarter mile, I’d let him walk to school alone after the first day.

Did you ask him what he wants?
