Two years ago my daughter was struggling in public school. She was behind in pratically everything and the school would not help with anything! I removed my daughter from public school and placed her in a small private school. Very small class size allowed for less social anxiety and more one on one interaction with the teacher. The teacher took a special interest in my daughter and really supported her and guided her in her studies. There were (and still are) struggles but I just received her standardized test scores, which she took with no modifications or support.

Keep in mind she just turned 9 years old. She scored on a 12.8 grade level in physical sciences and history (her special interest areas), a 10th grade level in vocabulary, a 7th grade level in reading (which is surprising because she hates reading), and a 3rd grade level in math (her appropriate level). There were some lower areas such as writing and reasoning, but these scores really point out in my opinion how the proper placement can really help our kids hone their strengths and shine academically!

Thanks for letting me brag! :D

That's GREAT!! Wow, I would be elated. Glad you bragged. We all need to hear encouraging stories. While our kids may not be the same, it gives us hope and encouragement to make changes we feel may be beneficial for them.

So happy she is doing well!

I truly believe all kids can have a positive schooling experience, and when what someone has clearly isn't working, they need to change it. The right fit really is everything.
