Organic diet
Hello Group! I haven't been on these boards in a long time. But here I am.
Things have been pretty good for us. Not great, but better than in many years. We haven't had a big change or leap in a long time.
I have continued to try to help my son through his issues by adding/deleting supplements, etc...
I have been studying and researching toxins, home remedies, herbs, etc.. since January. I have been testing stuff here and there on myself.
I have recently seen the first positive changes in my son in a long time. By positive changes I mean a further decrease in left over sensory and mood related issues.
I first got rid of all products containing soy. Next HFCS. I didn't see any result in him (but I did in myself). BTW - these were very challenging and slow transitions.
Within a week and a half of putting him on an estimated 70% organic diet, I have seen significant results. It has been a few weeks now and it is continuing.
I had already removed all parabens and cosmetic chemicals from my regime and also this week did the same for the kids (it took me a long time to find suitable products, another difficult transition).
I just wanted to share another thing that has helped my son in the hopes that it may be of value to another parent.
Does anyone else have their children on an organic diet and have you seen any improvements in any aspect of their mood/sensory/behavior?

When I took my son to get his Vyvanse for his ADHD, the doctor tried suggesting a gluten free and possibly dairy free diet as well as the meds. He would starve. If it doesn't have pizza dough, bread or pasta, he won't eat it. Everything he eats is some shade of orange, brown or yellow. That means cheese.
I truly admire people who can get their kids to stick to restrictive diets and eat them. I imagine it's pretty work intensive to cook a seperate meal every time, and keep the kid away from the banned foods when they are away from you.
Luckily the Vyvanse is helping him a good bit. I do think he has AS as well now. I have it and as he's gotten older I've noticed a lot of the characteristics of AS. He doesn't have the social impairments but he does have a lot of the other, although he was raised in a big family that always had company over, so he grew up being around other kids a lot.
