Anyone else's kid diagnosed ODD?
My son has yet to be diagnosed as having AS, but since I've been looking into it, I'm willing to say it's highly likely he is an Aspie. (I will be taking him, myself, and my husband to be officially diagnosed if we are or aren't this winter.) This year he was diagnosed with severe ADD (to the point that we've been advised not to even put him in school unless we choose to treat him), and ODD (oppositional defiance disorder).
I was wondering if anyone else's child has been diagnosed ODD and if this is a common comorbid for AS?

I accept PMs from females only. Sorry. Personal convictions.
My younger sister has an ODD diagnosis, in addition to ADHD and an intellectual disability. Not sure if it's a common comorbid with AS but I know that they can exist together.
I hope you have been able to cope well despite these diagnosises and have been able to find support and resources for your son. I find that there really isn't that much awareness of ODD, which is surprising because it's a really tough disorder to deal with, and I can just imagine the frustration of having to deal with it as a parent. My childhood was characterized by me being the quiet and unintrusive one, while my sister had tantrums and screaming matches with my parents almost daily. I can imagine that as a parent, you've been looking for some answers...just remember that getting diagnosed is the first step, and the answers will come with time and experience as your son grows.
Best of luck to you and your son ![]()

This misdiagnosis caused me significant stress, which lessened upon finding out the truth about myself from my current and past long-term therapists - that I am an anxious and highly sensitive person but do not have an autism spectrum disorder.
My diagnoses - social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
I’m no longer involved with the ASD world.
