I posted this in the General Forum but thought it might interest folks over here too. TIA for reading!

I would like to share something about a great young lady, Alexis Wineman. Alexis was diagnosed with autism in the 7th grade. More recently however, she was crowned Miss Montana and will be participating in the Miss America Pageant in January 2013. This year, the Miss America Pageant is holding an online voting contest for the participants and Alexis is asking members of the autism community to show their support for her. If you are interested, check out her video online at
http://www.missamerica.org/videocontest/
and vote for her. She would love the opportunity to take her message of awareness to a much larger audience and winning this online contest would give her a big boost toward that goal. She really is an extraordinary young lady who is an inspiration to many here in Montana.

Thanks for your time!

Very cool! I have to admit, I am incredibly creeped out by these types of contests - but I love that this young woman is unabashedly presenting herself as different, and different as OK.
