I've found out the name of the drug my son Glen is going to have it's called: Naltrexone. It's used for treating other conditions primarily but can be used to treat people with autism who self harm. I hope this helps for Glen

Has anyone been prescribed this before, would love to hear from you.

Self-harm is a symptom of a vitamin or mineral deficiency. I wish I could remember which one.. I'll look into it if you're interested (unless someone else knows).

Lexapro is what they're trying to get my dad on, who self-harms ... but he's old, so I'm not sure if that would work the same in younger people.

Thanks adsmum let me know. Just found out the dosage it's 25mg twice dailly, first thing in the morning and the other dose in the evening, it starts tomorrow. Just hope Glen doesn't get any side effects. I do worry about new medications.
