Hi...I am a parent with an 8 yr old hyperlexic daughter who has HFA (non aspergers). We are looking for testimonials from parents or individuals who can share their experience with us after using Lindamoodbells services for their kids. It seems to us that their programs "Talkies" and "V&V" are suitable to enhace spontaneous speech and language development. We are eager to get this information because their fees are considerably high and would like to have some input from independent sources like you.

thanks

I'd be interested in hearing more, too. DS7's teacher is starting the Linda Mood Bell Seeing Starts program with him. He's the opposite of your daughter -- everyone seems to expect him to already know how to read because he has AS. He's slow with learning to decode, but seems to have good comprehension and make good inferences of what he can read or what is read to him. I can't tell yet whether he has a processing problem, or if his delays in learning to read are primarily due to refusing to join the reading group lesson through most of kindergarten and part of first grade.

I asked about it on a homeschool site, and one person who had been a former teacher said their programs had a good reputation and were known for turning around older struggling readers.

LMB has an office not far from us, and I'm contemplating whether to look into something more intense with them over the summer break.

Hello

My 9 year old Hyperlexic son attended a 5 week session of Visualization and Verbalization program at a Lindamood Bell center in Florida 2 years back. It was quite expensive and we had high expectations from the program but I have to say we were quite disappointed with the results. His post-program comprehension score was actually lower than the pre-program score. Not sure what went wrong since my son diligently attended the program and did their homework assignments etc. To be clear, our most important objective was to improve reading comprehension since it lagged his overall IQ and reading skills significantly at that age.

thanks for your reply. Honestly, I appreciate your comment, since most of the reviews I have read so far are quite the opposite (when it comes to results). Everyone says it is expensive.
