When my baby cousin (called Matthew) came to visit last year I was sought of puzzled as to why he took such a shinning to me. My mom also noticed my cousins interest in me and she commented "its because you look approachable and have an open face". I asked why was not interested in my brother and my mum said "I think its because he looks quite scary and forbidding to him."

In more depth what does my mum mean by "approachable and open face". Do toddlers respond better to certain faces or something?

Well, only the babies and toddlers themselves know what they're thinking, and they can't express it!

I have noticed that babies and very young children are very taken with my son - he's 11. There must be something about him which they find appealing. Tots we pas pass in the street or I shops keep staring at him and smiling.

Do babies prefer more beautiful looking faces?
