Just wondering if anyone from Canada with AS children is receiving the Disability Tax Credit? or any funding for that matter. My son is turning six next week which pretty much shuts us out completely but we've never received anything to date, for speech, ot nothing....

No, but my daughter is going to be 18 in a couple of months and her therapist suggested we apply for Odsp (provincial disability). I just remembered my niece's son (5) is autistic and she is going to receive some kind of tax credit, and they will pay retro all the way back to when he was born. Maybe you should ask whoever does your taxes, what you might be eligible for. Sorry I wasn't much help.

If you go onto Canada Revenue Agency site and then search for Child Disability Benefit (CDB) it will give you the information you need. I guess you have to have a diagnosis and then get a dr to fill out a certificate and send it in. My niece got it retro from the day her son was born. I hope this helps you.

Thansk for the response....however, we have applied and apparently "Asperger's" is not the flavor of the month so we are stuck with no options. We have paid out for the last 2 years for all of his support but can't continue this any longer because we are tapped...what do we do???He needs the help now more than he has ever?????????????
