Eye Contact is NOT persuasive

I don't have the access to the full article. I read a summary elsewhere which linked to the abstract. Evidently eye contact tends to be present when you already think you will agree with a person (indicating a willingness to comply and receptivity, which is I guess why it is so coveted by teachers) However, if you already disagree you will be more likely to disagree more if you make eye contact than if you don't. Eye contact insistence is viewed as a power move, and therefore the message delivered is resisted.
This makes sense to me.
